STV, a leading professional services firm that plans, designs and manages infrastructure projects across North America, joined Delta Air Lines in celebrating the final major phase of the Delta Sky Way Program at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). STV, in joint venture, provided program and project management services, including baggage handling system management, scheduling, financial controls, change and contracts management as well as tenant move management services.

As part of a larger initiative to modernize and connect LAX terminals ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Delta moved its operational hub from Terminals 5 and 6 to Terminals 2 and 3. The reconstruction and renovation included the central headhouse, a consolidated check-in lobby, security checkpoint and baggage claim facility – while connecting the terminals directly to the Tom Bradley International Terminal, eliminating the need for shuttle buses.

“The results of STV’s collaboration with Delta Air Lines is a testament to seamless project coordination,” said Joe Thompson, senior vice president and national aviation practice lead at STV. “Terminals 2 and 3 elevate the passenger experience and demonstrate the value of strategic planning for world-class infrastructure.”

The 27-gate terminal also provides new and renovated passenger hold rooms, new and renovated facilities for airline operations, operational support spaces for Los Angeles World Airports and a state-of-the-art Delta Sky Club — the largest lounge offered by Delta. LAX is one of Delta’s most important coastal hubs, operating more than 155 peak-day flights to more than 55 locations worldwide. This modernized facility has been at the center of Delta’s vision to become the premier airline of Los Angeles.

The award-winning Delta Sky Way Program has been recognized throughout the industry, landing the 2024 Southern California Project of the Year by ENR California and the 2024 Honor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of California.

STV has been a trusted partner of Delta since 2010 and LAX since 1985, combining forces in 2016 when STV was selected to perform Program Management/Construction Management (PM/CM) and project controls for the addition of nine new gates in Terminal 3 at LAX, which opened in October 2022. STV also led the development and evaluation of alternatives for the LAX Landside Access Modernization Program; while Delta selected STV for the Redevelopment Program at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. STV has partnered with aviation clients with a full suite of programming, architectural and engineering design, as well as program, project and PM/CM services. STV supports airport clients including Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Denver International Airport, LaGuardia Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport.

STV’s award-winning airport work includes Delta Air Lines’ Terminal C at LaGuardia Airport, which was recognized by both the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York) and ACEC’s national chapter as one of the best projects in the nation. The firm’s role as construction manager for LaGuardia’s Terminal B redevelopment was awarded the inaugural Recognition of Special Achievement Award by the National Academy of Construction and named Forbes Travel Guide’s Best U.S. Airport. STV has also provided a range of planning, design and program and construction management services at Newark Liberty International Airport Terminal A in association with Grimshaw, Hartfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, DFW International Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas.
