Previously, Sun relied on nearly 25 different third-party providers to serve its global customer base. Through a three-year agreement announced today with DHL, Sun's corporate customers will have access to a single, consolidated logistics provider that will optimize the company's global supply chain, minimize inventory investment and ensure high customer service levels, while controlling costs.

DHL will tailor its international network and global IT system to optimize Sun's service parts management. The contract will involve over 300 logistics facilities housing thousands of parts to be used for service support to 1.5 million Sun customer systems in over 100 countries.

DHL also announced the expansion of DHL Solutions in the American marketplace. The service will leverage DHL's presence in 220 countries and territories to provide companies in the US, Canada and Latin America with customized end-to-end logistics solutions for the entire supply chain, ranging from consulting and supply chain design to warehousing, distribution logistics and order management.

By seamlessly outsourcing to DHL Solutions, customers in the manufacturing, distribution and retail arenas can retain their focus on their core competencies. DHL Solutions Americas further demonstrates DHL's ongoing commitment to multi-national corporations and small businesses customers, including Hewlett Packard, Siemens Business Services, Technicolor, and Wal-Mart.
