Today, the Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA) announced its approval of an incentive to support Nucor Towers & Structures, Inc., a leading steel producer and pioneer in sustainable manufacturing, as it expands operations in Brigham City. This incentive, stackable with one approved by the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO), will facilitate Nurcor’s $200 million investment and the creation of approximately 200 new technically-oriented jobs in Utah over the coming years.

“This new facility marks a significant milestone for Nucor Towers & Structures as we scale up our operations to meet the growing demand for utility infrastructure in western states due to clean energy projects, transmission upgrades and a growing population,” said Laurent De Mey, Vice President and General Manager of Nucor Towers & Structures. “Utah’s robust infrastructure and skilled workforce make it the ideal location for this investment. We are proud to deepen our roots in Brigham City and appreciate the partnership with UIPA and local leaders.”

The UIPA incentive, approved by the board on January 6, allows a maximum of 30 percent of Nucor's property tax liability to be rebated over 25 years. This post-performance rebate is part of UIPA’s efforts to support targeted industries in project areas. By incentivizing investments like these, UIPA aims to promote economic growth while fostering significant investments in public infrastructure.

“Nucor’s decision to expand in Brigham City reflects the strength of our community and our commitment to fostering economic development,” said Mayor Dennis J. Bott of Brigham City. “We’re proud to welcome this state-of-the-art facility, which will bring high-quality jobs and strengthen our partnership with a company that has been a key part of our local economy for decades.”

The collaboration among UIPA, GOEO, Brigham City, and EDCUtah has been instrumental in advancing this project.

“Nucor’s continued investment in Brigham City highlights their long-term commitment to manufacturing in Utah," said Scott Cuthbertson, president of EDCUtah. "Their growing presence in Brigham City, now with multiple facilities, underscores the region's strategic importance. Nucor’s focus on cleaner, more sustainable steel manufacturing sets a standard for innovation, and the addition of steel galvanization capabilities helps address supply chain needs within Utah's manufacturing ecosystem."

GOEO awarded Nucor Towers & Structures, Inc., a post-performance tax reduction for its expansion in Brigham City. The corporate incentive is part of the state’s Rural Economic Development Tax Increment Financing (REDTIF) program.

“This project highlights Utah’s commitment to fostering innovative industries that prioritize sustainability and community impact,” said Ryan Starks, executive director of GOEO. “We’re proud to support initiatives that create opportunities for both businesses and residents.”

Businesses eligible for incentives in UIPA project areas must align with targeted industries identified by local governments and meet capital expenditure thresholds.

“This is a testament to the power of collaboration in driving economic growth,” said Ben Hart, executive director of UIPA. “Nucor’s expansion underscores our mission to attract industries that align with Utah’s long-term vision for innovation and sustainability. The addition of skilled jobs and significant investment will be a catalyst for continued development in the region.”
