Nearly 200 exporters have received the Most Prestigious Exporter 2004 title, reported the Ministry of Trade's Export-Import Department.

The title is given to exporters in 25 sectors, including garment and textiles, leather and footwear, agricultural produce and processed products, seafood, plastic and wood products handicrafts, machinery, shipbuilding, chemicals, oil exploitation, tobacco, forestry products, construction materials, minerals and packaging.

The fishery industry added nearly 50 exporters to the list, and the agricultural products and clothing sectors contributed 40 and 25 names, respectively, the department reported.

The award aims to encourage exporters to improve their quality and standing in the business community, and it is sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), municipal and provincial trade departments and professional associations.

To receive the honor, businesses must have directly exported their products for the last two years, not broken the law, not have complaints lodged against them by their partners, and they must have a direct export turnover of at least US$1 to 20 million per year.

The selected exporters will be featured on the websites of the Ministry of Trade, the VCCI, the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) and Vietnamese overseas trade offices to increase their popularity among the international trade community. (Thai News Service)
