A Hapag-Lloyd vessels transits the Suez Canal

Adm. Ossama Rabiee, Chairman and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Authority, announced that traffic through the Canal today, Wednesday Sept. 29th, 2021, has witnessed the highest daily record in the number of transits – 87 vessels from both directions, without any waiting time within the waterway, at a total net tonnage of 4.8 million tons. The No. of southbound vessels is 38 and the total net tonnage of cargo they had onboard is 2 million tons. While 49 vessels are northbound, using the New Suez Canal, at a total cargo net tonnage of 2.8 million tons.

His Excellency confirmed the SCA's readiness to handle all various changes in the global maritime trade after the increase in the numerical and accommodation capacity of the Canal thanks to the New Suez Canal. The waterway development projects are a top priority in the time to come due to its significance to the political leadership in Egypt. Finally, Rabiee expressed gratitude towards the support of President Abdelfattah El-Sisi to the SCA and its future projects that are definitely beneficial for the national economy and the valorous people of Egypt.
