
Rhenus has successfully completed a major project logistics operation for TomKup, a Bosnia and Herzegovina-based renewable energy developer and investor, supporting the construction of the VP Baljci wind farm in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Between November 2025 and January 2026, the company coordinated the transport of approximately 4,000 tonnes of wind turbine components through a carefully planned multimodal logistics solution, demonstrating its expertise in managing complex project cargo and oversized transportation for renewable energy infrastructure projects.
The VP Baljci wind farm comprises 16 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 48 MW. Once completed, the project is expected to generate approximately 145.8 GWh of renewable electricity annually, supporting the diversification of Bosnia and Herzegovina's energy mix and contributing to the continued development of renewable energy infrastructure in the wider Balkan region.
The operation itself required the seamless integration of port handling, freight forwarding and specialized inland transportation services. In total, 147 vehicles designed for oversized and exceptional cargo transport were deployed to safely deliver the components from the Port of Ploče in Croatia, via the Kamensko border crossing and Tomislavgrad, to the wind farm site.
Managed through the Port of Ploče, a key gateway for project cargo in the Adriatic region, the project highlighted the close collaboration between Rhenus' port operations, freight forwarding and transport teams. The successful execution of the operation relied on meticulous planning, precise coordination and extensive expertise in handling large-scale industrial and energy-related cargo.

The project also highlighted the expertise of Rhenus' teams in Ploče, whose local market knowledge and operational capabilities were instrumental in ensuring the smooth execution of every stage of the transport process. The successful completion of the operation further strengthened the customer's confidence in Rhenus, resulting in additional shipments being awarded to the company.
The unloading of a new shipment of wind turbine components is currently underway at the Port of Ploče for TomKup, reflecting the continued partnership and trust built through the successful execution of previous project phases.
