Following the release of the review of the semiconductor supply chain by the U.S. Department of Commerce as directed under Executive Order 14017 “America’s Supply Chains,” stakeholders from across the semiconductor supply chain and customer base released statements applauding the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to review and tackle the shortage and supply chain issues.

Alliance for Automotive Innovation: “We applaud the Biden Administration’s work toward a long-term, comprehensive approach to supply chain resiliency, particularly concerning semiconductors, high-capacity batteries, and critical minerals. This strategic approach recognizes the economic benefits of U.S. manufacturing and global leadership, as well as cutting-edge auto technology developments. We look forward to continuing to work with the Biden Administration on this critical issue. Resilient supply chains are key to long-term investments in advanced automotive technologies, including electrification, advanced safety features, and automated driving systems.”

American Automotive Policy Council: “We appreciate the Biden administration’s careful review of the economic impact that the current supply chain crisis is having on American manufacturers and the need for more aggressive policies that will make America’s supply chains – including the value chain for critical high-tech components like automotive-grade semiconductors – more resilient in the future. The ongoing semiconductor shortage has had an outsized impact on American Automakers and the hundreds of thousands of American jobs our industry supports. American Automakers welcome and appreciate the release of the Biden administration findings.”

Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers: "AHAM commends the Biden administration for its planned measures to address vulnerabilities in the U.S. supply chain that have been felt across numerous industries. Home appliances more than ever have proven essential during the past fifteen months. Shortages of semiconductors and other materials have been a significant hurdle for the home appliance industry, and AHAM applauds the administration for recognizing the need to ensure semiconductors are fairly allocated across industries. A strategy to ensure that appliance manufacturers have access to critical materials like semiconductors is essential to ensure that people in the U.S. have access to the appliances they need as the nation works to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic. We look forward to working with the Administration and its Supply Chain Disruptions Task Force to address these issues."

Ford Motor Company: “We appreciate President Biden’s leadership and urgency in acting to strengthen our nation’s critical supply chains and support American consumers and manufacturing. We will do our part by continuing to invest and build more vehicles in the U.S. than any automaker - while leading the transition to an electric and connected transportation future, in partnership with allies in both public and private sectors.”

General Motors: “General Motors appreciates the Biden Administration’s strong focus and leadership on critical supply chains including U.S. production of semiconductors to alleviate the ongoing shortage that continues to impact US automotive manufacturing and their increased focus on battery R&D and U.S. supply chains that will help us move towards an all-electric future. We look forward to continuing to work with the Administration and members of Congress on these important issues. We welcome the support to U.S. automotive manufacturing and the 10.3 million jobs the industry supports.”

Intel: “We appreciate the Biden Administration’s efforts to increase the domestic supply of semiconductors; measures such as those detailed in today’s review of America’s critical supply chains can help the United States can reduce its reliance on technology from Asia...We appreciate the work of the Biden Administration in providing concrete solutions that will establish America’s leadership in semiconductor manufacturing capacity and innovation capabilities.”

IPC: “IPC commends the Biden administration for completing its 100-day review of strategically important supply chains and for outlining bold actions to strengthen U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and ensure the availability of minerals critical to electronics manufacturing.”

Lockheed Martin: “The Administration’s Supply Chain Task Force is taking action to strengthen and secure supply chains, which are critical to our national security.” [Tweet, 6/9/21]

Semiconductor Industry Association: “The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) today welcomed the release of a White House report on strengthening the supply chains of critical products, including semiconductors.”

SkyWater Technology: “The Biden Administration’s intense, thorough 100-day review studying supply chain challenges in critical industries, including semiconductors, has resulted in a comprehensive report identifying gaps and suggested solutions from across industries on how best to address this challenge. The unprecedented efforts by the President and the Senate to create solutions for re-shoring semiconductor manufacturing infrastructure will strengthen critical sectors of the U.S. economy.”
